Hi there everyone!

I've only just joined this board, but from what I can see, it is an pretty active one and everyone here seems to be 100% addicted to Majesty!

My association with Majesty has been an interesting one. I first tried it out when I got the demo almost two years ago. I loved it (even though it did interfere slightly with my A-Levels - that's pre-university exams) and couldn't wait until the game came out. However, I could never find it in any shops here in the UK; msot of them said they had had it in but only for a little while and then it was withdrawn/out of stock. A little disappointed, I busied myself with many other games - mostly RPGs e.g. Baldur's Gate I and II + Throne of Bhaal; Icewind Dale; Wizardry 8/ Heroes of Might and Magic III etc.

Yet Majesty always remained in the back of my mind and occasionally I would replay the demo. The generally not brilliant (c. 60-70%) reviews of the game I read put me off a little. I heard about the Northern Expansion, but then I couldn't find that anywhere around either.

Two years passed and then one day two weeks ago, just at the end of my Spring term (I'm a student, at Oxford University) I re-downloaded the Majesty demo and was overcome by an urge to find the game at all costs. It was still not available in the UK - though I noticed EB was going to sell Majesty Gold here, though not until June! I tried importing it from America; but e.g. amazon.com wouldn't send it abroad.
However, fortunately I knew of a company near London that specialises in importing hard-to-find games from all over the world, especially America. To my joy, they could find Majesty Gold and although I had to await a week for them to specially import it for me (apparentely, I was the first person they knew who wanted it!) - and pay a hefty price - it finally arrived yesterday. Now I have a whole month to play Majesty Gold - joy!

Why am I telling you this? Well, I just wanted to communicate my joy at finally getting the game - and now I am playing it non-stop! I have finished all the Beginner Quests and now I am working my way through the Advanced Quests - this game is so cool!

Anyway, I actually had a point in this post, but I'll have to do a seperate post now....

I'll be around these boards a lot - infecting it with my eccentric enthusiasm!

Thanks to Cyberlore and everyone who makes this game great!

Cheers,

Lord Peter,

Be sure to come to GSA on weekends for some Multiplayer!

Been to Bath many times, briefly, on trains going through to London from Bristol. Seems a clean place, Bath...

Hi there,

Thanks everyone for your posts. Cooker, I wasn't too sure about the point re: Oxford University. Looks and sounds like two words to me! Bizarre - explain, will you?

Steven of Nine, thanks for your description of Bath as "clean" Little bizarre, but I like it (both Bath and your comment). Drop me an email if you are ever in Bath and we'll go for a pint.

Cheers,

Peter

Mind pointing out the palindrome for us Steve?

Ah, Palindromes...

A palindrome for Cooker:
Ni talar bra latin.

A short palindrome:
Racecar

My Personal Favorite:
Yawn. Madonna Fan? No damn way!

And finally one for Sir Peter's Latin class:
In girum imus nocte et consumimur igni.

Yes, it is quite hard to sleep, especially when you used a cheat to make a wizard go to level 1647 and typed in a command that made golems and dragons appear, come back in 2 hours to find that the wizard died, and you got 3 dead level 23 paladins and a healer still stabbing away at a golem, while the palace is down to 12 hp. Meanwhile the the other wizards you recruited have been hiding in refuge in the guild, still at level 2 or 1...

Er welcome to the boards!

Gotta come out of lurker mode for this one. I got all excited too when Majesty Gold came out despite not even having played the demo - just read a few reviews and it look really good.

Anyway, had the same problem with it not available in the UK and amazon being silly, but managed to get it imported through Chips & Bits (great online games store). Stupidly expensive postage meant it cost $31 which will sound a lot to Americans, but over here about 20 for a good game ain't bad.

Oh, and Lord Peter, I'm a student a Bath Uni, and have even been in the EB ya mention. Scary ha?

Martin

Just out of interest which company did you use Lord Peter? I've usually relied on strategic-plus software for avoiding the stupidly costly customs duties etc you sometimes get landed with importing directly yourself.
